President Museveni’s Death Penalty Remarks Gets Mixed Reactions

President Yoweri Museveni’s stand to uphold the death penalty in Uganda’s law books has attracted mixed reaction across the political and legal divide. Human rights and constitutional lawyer Peter Walubiri described Museveni’s statement as being based on emotions and not carefully thought out.
But some MPs are chanting out songs of praise to Museveni for seconding constitutionalism and the rule of law to punish capital offenders.
