The High Court this afternoon once again adjourned the sentencing of juveniles who recently pleaded guilty to committing murder, aggravated defilement, attempted murders and other heinous crimes around the city.
Last week, High Court Judge Joseph Murangira adjourned to today the sentencing of 9 offenders who pleaded guilty to the crimes for lesser punishments. This number rose to 13 during today’s court sitting. They could however not be sentenced since their probation letters were missing.
The 13 juveniles and several others are believed to have committed the crimes between 2014 – 2015 in various parts of Kampala.
The prosecution pleaded for lighter sentences since some of the suspects had expressed interest to reform and had stayed on remand for over a year. The case was adjourned to 27th September for sentencing.
