Increased Power Consumption to Reduce Power Tarrifs

The Electricity Regularity Authority has announced that the planned free power connection policy by government will take effect this month. According to the executive director at the authority, Eng. Ziria Tibalwa, the move is to encourage the consumption of the upcoming additional power, which is expected after the commissioning of Isimba and Karuma hydropower dams later this year. This will also lead to reduction in power tariffs, as more people will be connected.
