The tobacco industry has been put on the spot over what’s being described as veiled marketing and advertising strategy to attract consumers who eventually become addicts. Civil society organizations committed to tobacco control say the strategy that focuses on affordability, accessibility and palatability is against the anti tobacco act. They now want policy makers to be more stringent in their checks on practices by multinationals if the country is to realize the intention of the law.
