Even when the country’s tax regime and laws against tobacco products seems to be very restrictive, the industry continues to post growth as reflected in increased profits posted especially in the previous financial year. According to Dr Elly Karuhanga, the Board chairman of British American Tobacco, government should not bank on tough laws and high taxes to think that it will eliminate tobacco consumption but instead, should put a lot of emphasis on sensitization to help the public do self-regulation in regard to tobacco consumption.
