The Minister for Trade, industry and cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde has asked legislators sitting on the natural resources Committee of Parliament to push for a law that will penalize people who litter the streets with plastic carrier bags. Meeting members of parliament on the Natural Resources committee to discuss the production, importation and sale of plastic carrier bags in Uganda, Kyambadde explained to legislators the position of the ministry on the Kavera ban saying it is will be carried out in a phased manner However, legislators on the Committee are concerned about the contradictions between line ministries in implementing the ban.
