Sewerage dominates Katanga

A forgotten community in Katanga has solid waste and sewerage flowing freely between households and market stalls without concern. A heavy stench of sewage and filth dominates the atmosphere in Katanga. Random and unplanned channels intersect each other with filth running right in front of homesteads and food sale points into one major water drainage system that runs to Rubiji. Kampala minister Betty Namisango Kamya visited this unfriendly site and tasked the management of National Water and sewage corporation to work on the sanitation of the area before an outbreak of cholera is reported. The community is worried about how the endless sewerage situation leaves them and their children susceptible to disease, especially in the rain season.
