A row over forest resources use has erupted between south Sudanese refugees and the Acholi host community at Palabek Ogili refugee settlement in Lamwo district with the Acholi threatening to kill the refugees.
Residents of Paluda pyeta village accuse the refugees of indiscriminately felling trees in the forest for charcoal burning and tent construction. As Richard Olweny reports, the conflict also stems from the fact that the local community considers the forest a burial ground for hundreds of Acholis killed during the long Lord’s Resistance Army rebellion. This and more in tonight’s environment focus.
