Residents of Kamuli district owning less than 5 acres of land will not be allowed to grow sugarcane on their land but instead food and cash crops. This, according to Vincent Galinsansana, the district Vice Chairperson, is one of the moves towards eradicating poverty in parts of Busoga region. Galinsansana says the new 5-acre model program is targeting over 7000 households and so far 3000 have responded positively. He believes this is very possible, as some parishes in the district have been selected to act as model parishes for food and cash crop growing.
