NARO: New Banana Breed Are Disease Resistant

Uganda’s smallholder farmers producing matooke will soon be spending less to fight the common pests and diseases that have ravaged banana plantations.
This as international experts on Banana Improvement gather in Uganda to strengthen breeding efforts which are expected to result into better banana breeds which are resistant to pests and diseases.
Ambrose Agona, the Director General at the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) says with the current climate change, farmers need to appreciate and understand that the only way to maintain matooke is adopt resistant breeds;
