Sadolin Paints Football Club are looking at playing in the Uganda Premier League after next season and look set to bring in Makumbi after missing out on Allan Kabonge.
Mbarara City Head coach, Richard Makumbi, has dismissed rumors linking him to Uganda Premier League relegated side, Sadolin Paints FC.
Makumbi says there has not been substantive contact with the Jinja based side for anything conclusive to be drawn.
“I am still at Mbarara City and I have not yet decided to leave the Club unless my bosses inform me of any changes in my role” He said.
“I am currently home and not under any pressure for a new job. My reputation and legacy sum up my abilities.” He added.
Sadolin Paints FC are in search of a coach after the dismissing their technical staff at the end of last season, following a spate of troubled moments that led to the relegation of the Club last season.
The Painters are desperately looking at promotion back to first division football and won’t be looking at anything less than a coach who suits their targets.
According to credible sources, they (Sadolin Paints) first approached Allan Kabonge, who like Makumbi has earned bragging rights for promoting teams to top flight football, but things did not work out their way. It is believed that Kabonge, who has successively promoted Onduparaka Football Club and Masavu Football Club to the Uganda Premier in 2015/17 and 2016/17 respectively asked for a transfer kitty worth UGX. 100M before putting pen to paper, a demand they could not meet.
Allan later joined Lira United, Did he get the UGX. 100M transfer kitty from the Big League side? It remains a question you and me cannot answer at the moment.
Could the Richard Makumbi be telling otherwise?
Well, considering the fact that Richard Makumbi best suits Sadolin Paints’ ambitions for next season, it is logical to think contact has been made between the two parties.
Mbarara City were promoted to the Uganda Premier League and that was Makumbi’s target last season, before which he had promised his wife a massive wedding had he achieved it.
Richard Makumbi has no mane of the Lion in the Premier League like he does in Second tier football. I can ably count the number of teams he has managed in top flight football but his teams he has promoted from second tier football are by far a bigger figure.
Richard has no substantive contract at Mbarara City and has previously confessed to me how Business at the Club is going on without his acknowledgement. Could this signal a looming exit for the former SCOUL defender?
Now that his would be most probable destination, Nyamityobora FC, have acquired Frank ‘Video’ Anyau, it remains a test of time if he won’t be at Sadolin Paints when the 2017/18 Big League season kicks-off.
