UBOS: Basic Items Now More Expensive

The Uganda bureau of statistics (UBOS) has released price indices for the Financial Year 2015/16 indicating a 5.7% rise in the price of construction materials. It is believed this rise was responsible for the slowing of the sector that continues to spearhead the country’s economic development.
The indices also show an increase in the price of chemical products, processed food, coffee and vegetables indicating that Ugandans now have to dig deeper into their pockets to access basic items.
