Kaliro High Poverty Levels Worry Leaders

Abject poverty in Kaliro district has hindered economic development with majority of the people living in substandard shelters; with many unable to earn a living.
This has been attributed to the sugar cane growing in the district, with most households neglecting food production for the canes. The leaders are now concerned that the district’s rainfall patterns have changed after farmers cut all trees to create space for the sugar canes.
