Lack of Staff Housing Affecting Medical Service Delivery in Luweero

A lack of housing for medical staff is one of the major challenges facing Uganda’s health sector. In our series, “Advocacy for better health”, Richard Olweny looks at the problem of staff housing and how it affecting the provision of services to the patients who seek medical care daily.
He visited Kasana – Luwero health center IV where he discovered that less than 5% of the staff are provided accommodation; with the rest having to commute daily from as far as Kampala.
