Court Grants DPP Power to Prosecute Gen Kale Kayihura

The high court in Kampala has ruled that the Director of public prosecutions qualifies for an automatic takeover of prosecution of the Inspector general of police Gen. Kale Kaihura clearing the air on queries of the DPP’s formal application requirement on criminal cases.
The ruling was in response to an application which sought to review a decision by Makindye Magistrates court which had denied the DPP an automatic takeover of the prosecution of the IGP in the torture case against him.
