Gauge Railway: China, Uganda Still in Talks

Uganda’s hopes for the construction of the Malaba–Kampala section of the mega Standard Gauge railway meant to ease transportation of cargo from Mombasa remains only in plans as China is still holding on to the proposal.
Chinese foreign affairs minister Wang Yi who spent a day in Uganda with his counterpart Sam Kutesa on a state visit reaffirmed China’s strong attention to the project whose kickoff has been delayed by setbacks.
