Mbarara Demo: Must Students Riot Over Retake Policy?

Students at Mbarara University of science and technology this morning went on strike challenging a new retake policy put in place by the university administration. The students also want an increment in the living out allowance for those on government scholarships but staying out of the University’s halls of residence.
Under the new policy, every student who fails a paper is required to pay sh200,000while those who fail at least three papers must registerfor a dead year. The rioting students vowed never to attend lectures until their issues are settled.
