River Rwizi on the Brink as Encroachment Increases

Thick vegetation other wetland grasses around river beds tends to act as water filters, catchment areas and regulate flooding. But River Rwizi in South Western Uganda is on the brink of severe degradation. Like other natural resources elsewhere in the country, the river that serves as a water source for hundreds of thousands of people and animals in Ankole sub region is under severe threat.
