Residents of Mitooma this morning barred their district chairman Benon Karyeija from accessing his office – accusing him of fronting a controversial district council resolution calling for the construction of judicial offices in Rwenkukuru village in Katenga Sub County which is about 12kms out of Mitooma town.
The angry residents locked the chairman’s office and impounded his vehicle which they found in a hideout. Police was called in and managed to secure the vehicle after running battles. In the melee, a freelance journalist also survived lynching as the mob accused him of working for Karyeija.
