Uganda has dismissed claims that its delegates deliberately declined to rally behind Kenya’s Amina Muhamed in the recently concluded election of the new Chairperson of the African Union Commission. Amina lost to Chad’s Moussa Mahamat in the final vote.
Foreign affairs minister Sam kutesa says rumors going around especially in Kenya claiming Uganda exercised double standard are baseless. Kutesa claims Uganda offered all necessary support to Aminah – also the official candidate of the East African Community from the onset.
Kutesa was addressing a press conference at the government media centre this morning.
