Earning a Living from Elephant Dung

What started as a misfortune for the women of Katara village in Rubirizi District has turned out to be a major source of livelihood for most families.
Like most areas neighboring the park, co-existence with wildlife is a nightmare but Katara Women Poverty Alleviation Group has found fortune and turned conflict into business. The elephants destroy their gardens but in the process, they leave their waste behind. It is this dung that they use to manufacture hard paper.
