City Councilors have unanimously voted to drop the KCCA amendment bill 2015 that seeks to have the Lord Mayor elected by the Council.
The bill also seeks to scrap the powers introduce the office of speaker, unlike the current law which bestows the lord mayor with speaker ship roles. In today’s council siting chaired by the lord mayor,he claims the proposed amendment bill of the KCCA act was not widely consulted but rather a project of the then minister Frank Tumwebaze to pass state interest.
NBS Richard Olwenyi attended the council meeting at city hall and now reports.
