Government Struggles to Contain Passport Stock-out

Officials on government business or patients seeking treatment abroad, students on scholarships and other individuals in emergency situations are the only ones eligible to acquire ordinary passports as the Ministry of Internal Affairs struggles to solve the shortage of passports in the country. This position was announced by the Minister for Internal Affairs General Jjeje Odong during an address to Parliament this evening.
In the parliamentary sitting chaired by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the law makers have given a one month ultimatum to the Minister for Internal Affairs to come up with a ministerial statement on the criteria government uses in giving out diplomatic passports.
