As the financial year 2016/2017 comes to an end, the Uganda Revenue Authority says it has made tremendous steps towards revenue collection ahead of meeting the 13trillion set target at the beginning of the year. Doris Akol the Commissioner General at URA says by the end of March this year, the authority had collected 9.2 trillion shillings, posting a growth of 13.51% compared to the same period in the previous financial year. Tax expert with Price house water Coopers Francis Kamulegeya says although this is a plus for URA, there is still need for the authority to extend its outreach and tap into the informal sector.
