Court dismisses Buyende Woman MP election appeal

The deputy chief justice Steven Kavuma maintains to head a panel of three judges to hear an appeal filed by Rubaga south’s Kato Lubwama against Habib Buwembo in spite of the respondent’s lawyer Isaac Semakade objecting his presence citing partiality on the side of the judge.Justice Kavuma noted that he will be guided by his professional oath adding that counsel in any case cannot decide which judge hears their case.
Meanwhile, the court of appeal has dismissed with costs an election petition appeal filed by NRMs Nakato Mary Annet challenging a high court decision that maintained Veronica Babirye as the rightly elected woman member of parliament for Buyende district.
