As the union jack came down and Uganda’s flag went up on October 8, 1962 there was euphoria over the end of British rule over Uganda. But the freedom from colonial masters didn’t come on a silver platter. The question that still lingers is whether Ugandans really achieved freedom or are still in the ambits of the former colonial master. The answer to this question tonight can only be delivered through the eyes of one of the elders that witnessed the new dawn.
