Despite Uganda being ranked the second largest coffee producer in Africa after Ethiopia, local coffee consumption remains low at just 0.5 % per person per year. This makes it only 6% of the 4.6 million bags currently produced. Andrew Lajul Kilama the director corporate services at Uganda coffee development Authority attributes the low coffee consumption to Ugandans who think that coffee is just a cash crop.
