Illegal Fishing Nets Decreasing Bio Mass of Nile Perch in Lake Victoria

Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has raised the red flag over the decreasing bio mass of the Nile perch in Lake Victoria, attributing it to the increasing use of illegal fishing nets. According to Dr Edward Rukunya the Director Fisheries department, the fear of depletion of the lake has forced government into expediting the drafting of the National Fisheries and aquaculture policy that was passed by cabinet.
