Butaleja Ravaged by Floods

Residents of Himutu Sub County in Butaleja have fled their homes after floods ravaged their homesteads. It followed heavy rains that have hit the district for the past few weeks forcing River Manafa to break its banks . The residents have now taken temporary shelter in mosques, churches and schools. Authorities fear a looming Famine, and disease outbreak after crops were washed away and toilets sunk. They now appeal to government for urgent humanitarian assistance.
