Members of civil society have criticized President Museveni for establishing a parallel desk to fight corruption – saying it contradicts his earlier position on reducing public expenditure through reducing authorities and bodies. This is after the president appointed a 3 Man unit to head the new anti-corruption unit parallel of the Inspectorate of government. The Executive Director Anti-corruption coalition Uganda Cissy Kagaba says instead of bringing on board new agencies, the president should aim at strengthening the agencies by bridging the gaps in those sectors.
