Banana Farmers Express Concern Over Exploitation

Banana farmers in western Uganda have expressed concern over exploitation and manipulation by group of middlemen who are taking advantage of their plight.The farmers say the rate at which middlemen are exploiting them is frustrating them, yet their findings show that the prices for banana’s is high in the market compared to the farm price. Currently a bunch of banana is bought at 3,000 Shillings from a farmer and sold between 20,000 and 40000 shillings when it reaches the market.
