Curbing Crime in the City – 24,000 LDUs to be Recruited

Political leaders have expressed fear over the re-introduction of local defense units in Kampala and Wakiso since this may worsen the already fragile security situation. Kampala Lord mayor Erias Lukwago and shadow Internal Affairs minister Muwanga Kivumbi warn that an extra 24000 guns in Kampala alone will only serve to empower criminals. But some of the NRM leaders say this is a strong message to the criminals. Jordan Mubangizi reports
