President Delayed Approval of Mobile Money Bill

The President’s delay to assent to the long awaited Excise Amendment bill number 2 on Mobile Money is creating a storm in parliament. The legislators argue the delay has led to the closure of people’s businesses dealing in Mobile Money but also to the reduction of mobile money users. The Bill seeks to reduce the withdraw tax on mobile money from 1 to 0.5%.
