URBRA Cannot Supervise Beyond East Africa

The Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority (URBRA) insists that it does not have the mandate to supervise investments outside the East African Region by pension schemes particularly the national social security fund. This follows claims by NSSF that the provision that prohibits the fund from investing beyond the East African region has closed out a number of investment opportunities outside the region that would otherwise have been tapped into.
