Managing Livestock in Karamoja

We now head to Karamoja region where the stability, urbanization and its consequent cultural mix, ushered in by the disarmament program, has resulted in a mismatch between the livestock value chain and emerging needs as farmers continue to rely on long maturing yet less productive indigenous breeds. Experts are now exploring alternative technologies to boost the livestock value chain across the region through the introduction of fast-maturing, high yielding and drought resistant breeds and pastures.
