Cranes Skipper Onyango Sqoops CAF Award

Congratulations are an order for Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundowns keeper Dennis Onyango. Only just a few months ago he was shortlisted for the CAF Player of the Year 2019 award, and as of last night the Uganda Cranes skipper represented the country’s colours by making it on the  CAF –FifPro Best XI as well as winning the Best Goalkeeper award. The Aiteo CAF Awards 2018 were held in Dakar-Senegal on Tuesday 8th January 2019.
Onyango was in attendance at the Award Ceremony and personally picked his award.
Onyango was the only African based footballer on the team and was accompanied by high profile players based in the top European leagues which included Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire & Tottenham Hotspur), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal & Napoli), Eric Bailly (Cote d’Ivoire & Manchester United), Mehdi Benatia (Morocco & Juventus) Naby Keita (Guinea & Liverpool), Thomas Partey (Ghana & Atletico Madrid), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria & Manchester City), Mohamed Salah (Egypt & Liverpool), Sadio Mane (Senegal & Liverpool) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon & Arsenal).
Onyango also played a major role in Uganda’s qualification to the AFCON 2019 which will take place in Egypt. Uganda topped Group L with 4 wins, 1 draw and 0 loses.
