Mbarara Faces Another Corruption Scandal

Barely a week after a scandal involving six Mbarara officials who were arrested for abuse of office by the state House Anti-corruption unit, the western district is infamous for yet another incident. This most recent case involves an unaccounted UgX90Million meant for capacity building in the district.

Presently reports coming in claim two suspects have so far been arrested by the State House Anti-corruption Unit which include the Mbarara Town clerk and the Chief Financial Officer (C.F.O). The two have been accused of allegedly escalating costs for street lighting as well as grabbing government cemetery land and selling it off with evidence of double titles.

The current investigation has been as a result of whistle-blowers who alerted the unit on the situation.
