Sad reports came in on Sunday evening as an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 plane crashed just six minutes after takeoff from Addis-Ababa en-route to Kenya.

The plane contained 157 passengers with 33 different nationalities on board, 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, 9 Ethiopians, 8 Americans Chinese and Italians and 7 UK and French nationals. The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta both expressed their condolences on social media to all affected parties and have pledged to look for answers.

Prior to this tragedy, the last plane accident happened in 2009 also involving a Boeing 737 that exploded shortly after taking off from Lebanon killing 83 passengers and 7 crew members.

US Aerospace giant Boeing expressed their sadness over the tragedy and have pledged to provide technical assistance to find out what caused the crash. In light of the accident China and Ethiopia have grounded other Boeing 737 planes until investigations have concluded.
