Frustration In Gulu Over Power Blackouts

Residents in Gulu have grown frustrated at UMEME over the lack of electricity in their areas. Gulu is home to a large population and with a growing business environment, most which require electricity to function. NBS’ Benson Ongom was in Gulu to report on the situation.

UMEEME recently came forward to address the situation and stated the power shortage was due to a fallen pole along Soroti line that leads to Lira and then Gulu. The residents on hearing that were still frustrated as they claimed that power shortage has been a problem for years and have gotten that excuse on most occasions.

With the construction of Kasumba dam most thought their power woes would be over but unfortunately the situation has not changed much.
