“When I started making films, it was all about the art and not fame”.

Isaac Nabwana the crowned king of Wakaliwood did not imagine the fame that would head his way when he ventured into film making.

Nabwana a former welder, brick layer, store keeper was especially surprised by the international press that visited Wakaliwood. When asked about why the local press wasn’t drawn to him, he asserted the lack of appreciation of art by Ugandan journalists and media. He also highlighted the lack of patriotism in Uganda.

Founded in 2005, Wakaliwood is a film studio based in Wakaliga popularly know for the film “Who Killed Captain Alex”.
