Karimojongs living in Katwe, struggling to make a living have been left in a burst out after receiving instructions from KCCA who are trying to repatriate them. KCCA intends to send them back to their home in Karamoja by 16th August 2019. With the deadline to clean up the city getting closer, the Karimojong have rejected that they will not board the bus to leave their new home.
One of the Karimojongs that was interviewed said that the constitution allows them to stay anywhere they choose to because they are Ugandans. He said that he should not be squeezed like he is not Ugandan. Another Karimojong went ahead to say that they are also human beings like others with other tribes like Baganda living in Karimoja as well. T he Karimojongs expressed their distress claiming that their plight is evidence for unequal distribution of resources and said that they can only return after their guns are given back.
