Different stakeholders, through numerous calls, have tried to have the Inspectorate of Government investigate land-related cases. These calls have fallen on deaf ears as the Inspectorate sights inadequacy in staff to do the investigations as well as potential antagonism from land mafias.

Justice Irene Mulyagonja,  the Inspector General of Government while submitting at the two-day engagement, between the Judiciary and the Inquiry into Land Matters also warned against the multiplication of land duties by government bodies.

She warns that this consumes time and also causes confusion during problem-solving.

“There is also a need to reduce the number of Institutions that deal with land, and transparency to be increased in the handling of land matters,” said Justice Irene Mulyagonja.
