Eight Police Officers Convicted

Eight police officers have been convicted of the negligence of duty over the kidnap and subsequent murder of Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa.

The police spokesperson Fred Enanga said that the defaulters have been reprimanded after it was found that they had violated the requirements of duty, of remaining alert and observant while on duty after some of them were absent

.

“It was also noted that there were so many errors and delays in fast-tracking the CCTV footages and there were also miscommunications which were made within minutes and hours after the double kidnap,” said Fred Enanga.

The Disciplinary Court also established that at Old Kampala, Natete and Katwe, officers showed an unwillingness to perform their duties as well as take appropriate action during the occasion of the crime.
