Passengers travelling to West Nile districts, part of South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo have been left stranded at Pakwach bridge after River Nile burst its banks cutting off the bridge.

The residents and road users have been advised to use alternative routes after they blamed the situation on the heavy rains that lasted for over six hours.

The Uganda National Road Authority Ag. regional manager Bernard Kigaba blames the flooding on the ongoing construction of a road through Murchison Falls Park.

He said this is the first time they had witnessed it and it was caused by the activities of road works and construction of oil roads.
