President Museveni Meets Chinese Presidential Envoy

President Museveni together with the Uganda delegation welcomed the Chinese envoy as they arrived at Statehouse in Entebbe.

Newly appointed Minister for works and transport Katumba Wamala and Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa were part of the delegation that ushered in the Chinese leader who had brought with him a high-level message from the paramount leader of the Republic of China Xi Jinping.

The visit comes at a time when the two countries are working to promote business ties with China considered to be a destination for Ugandan products. China has had a major influence on the developments in Uganda including Standard Gauge railway that is still in the pipeline.

Trade cooperation between China and Africa maintains steady progress and sound momentum of development with statistics indicating that China has been Africas’s largest trading partner for ten consecutive years with 2.4 billion dollars in 2018 and rising by 20% every year.
