President Museveni Orders Online Public Procurement

Uganda held the first-ever expo that attracted both local and international inventors. President Yoweri Museveni used the platform to press a directive saying that all public procurement must be done through digital platforms.

The president,during the expo emphasized that these platforms will encourage transparency and intensify the fight against graft. He said that personal interactions during procurement have highly facilitated the infiltration of graft into public procurement.

“Our Lord’s prayer says thou shall not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil, so all these people should stop meeting those who are pushing tenders. We are going to make it an offense,” said president Museveni.

The president commended the young people for the inventory efforts in the sector that is largely projected to be the major job center in the fourth industrial revolution trajectory.
