It was hailing and outcries in the yesterday evening parliamentary seating that was chaired by Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga as the legislators expressed their dissatisfaction over the violation of the people’s rights that involves the torture of fishermen and extortion of businessmen dealing in fish.

They indicated that after discussion with the president and resolutions with parliament among others, results have not been noticed and this has left them frustrated.

“Why should we let Ugandans die because of fish…where do we report? we have gone to the president, we have gone to parliament, we have gone to the speaker, where do we report?” asked the legislators.

They questioned the extortion that the soldiers are using saying that it is ashaming. Ruhakana Rugunda said that there is no special treatment or neglect of discipline, discipline by the UPDF whether on the lake or anywhere else is standard.

The disgruntled legislators demanded to move a motion to suspend the ten UPDF soldiers legislators accusing them of failing to handle the matter in their respective capacities.

This house is dissatisfied by the lack of faction by the government despite the resolution, despite reports, despite meetings,”  said Alitwala Kadaga as she suspended the house demanding that the Minister of Defence appear in parliament to give an explanation for what is happening.
