Construction works on Ugandan roads have stalled following the outbreak of Coronavirus since most contractors were either Chinese nationals or foreigners.

The Executive Director UNRA, Allen Catherine Kagina said that they have many projects with Chinese nationals but some of them were not able to report back due to restricted travels.

She said that they received news about Coronavirus during China’s new year celebrations and some of them who went for the celebrations are not able to come back. UNRA is working together with other authorities to make sure that the virus does not enter the country for the sake of the projects.

“The ones who travel back, first of all, are checked on the other side when cleared, they fly and when they come here, some of the projects clear them again for fourteen days before they are cleared to work,” said Kagina.
