BOU Sets Measures Amidst Coronavirus Pandemic

The minister for Finance Matiya Kasaija says the country has started experiencing a shortage in supply of goods, medical equipment’s, smartphones among others arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presenting the government statement on the economic impact of COVID-19, the Governor of Bank of Uganda Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile stated measures that the bank is to take to counteract the effect of the pandemic on the country’s economy.

He stated that among the measures, financial institutions are to remain operating supervised by Bank of Uganda.  He added that among others, BOU will ensure that contingency plans by financial institutions guarantee the safety of the customers and staff.
