High Crime Rate In Gulu Town

Gulu Municipality remains in the dark even after UGX 3 billion was released to install 500 street lights. The residents have demanded an explanation on why the lighting of the town has delayed but in vain. The plan was to relocate trucks from out of town to the back streets of Gulu town.

However, the back streets are reported to have sanitation issues with most of them littered with polythene bags and other contamination substances including sewerage. These parts of Gulu town have been dubbed a crime tolerance zone as they have aided criminal activities as criminals, street kids and idlers have sought refuge in these areas. The police has been commended to do regular checks in these areas to limit the criminal activities.
